Date Ideas for You and Hubby
Remember when you first started dating your hubby? All the anticipation leading up to each date—deciding what to wear, trying to figure out where you were going, planning how to snuggle up next to him, and all the other feels. It was fun, right?
Who says you can’t have the excitement of dating while you’re married (dating your husband—obviously)? Actually, it’s a good idea for your marriage and relationship to continue to date your husband while you’re married.
As married couples, especially when kids are added to the family, get into an unromantic daily grind of bills, messes, meals, work, chores, etc. In the hustle and bustle of each day, we often forget to focus on the reasons we were attracted to our spouse—why we said “yes” to marrying them. Instead, we begin to only see their flaws or the things that irritate us. Yes, we still love them, but do we like them?
Dating helps us continue to love and even like (maybe even more than you did) our spouse among the chaos of everyday stresses. Dating allows you and your hubby to step away from the stressors of life and renew and strengthen your relationship and commitment to each other.
I understand that everyone doesn’t have grandparents or a babysitter to call on for weekly dates. Maybe you could kid swap with friends—you watch their kids one week for them to enjoy a date and then they watch your kids one week for you and your hubby to enjoy a date. I also understand that budgets might be tight or babies are too young to take an overnight trip. But don’t let that stop you from dating your husband.
AT-Home Date Ideas:
If you aren’t able to go out on a date. Bring the date to your home!
Book Club - Pick a book you both are interested in reading, take turns reading to each other, and discuss what you read.
Movie Night - Cozy up in bed and watch a movie together in bed after the kids go to bed.
Sensual Night - Take turns giving each other a massage with massage oil. Or take a bubble bath together. Who knows what might happen next.
Cook Together - Find a new recipe or maybe your favorite recipe and cook it together while the kids play or put them to bed early for extra alone time.
Do a Project Together - Surely, you have a home project you both have been wanting to complete. Work on it together.
Dance Party - Play your favorite music (fast or slow) and have a dance party together.
Competition Date - Have a game night. Play a board game together or do some trivia questionnaires.
Puzzle Time - Pick out a puzzle you’d like to frame and put up in your home, pick a night (or 4), to work on it together. Seeing it hang in your home will remind you of the awesome dates and times spent together.
Dream Together - Make a vision board with goals or plans you have for your family in the next year or 5 years.
