How to Rock 2022
Have you ever felt stuck—like your life is in a rut, but everyone around you is busy succeeding at life? You might feel annoyed or even envious of them. Why do they get to be so successful and happy?
There is a way out of the rut! The key is gratitude. Don’t roll your eyes yet; hear me out.
You might be thinking that you need success in order to be happy and grateful, but that’s backwards thinking. Success doesn’t lead to gratitude and happiness. Gratitude leads to increased happiness, and increased happiness leads to more motivation and drive to achieve your goals. And when you achieve your goals it leads to more happiness.
Psychologist Robert Emmons is one of the world’s leading experts on the practice of gratitude. He and his team have studied over 1000 people and found that the simple act of keeping a gratitude journal can lead to increased optimism, joy, energy, enthusiasm, health, and happiness. When you feel happy, you feel more optimistic and energized. This motivation leads to action, and action is the key is achieving your goals.
As we make progress on our goals, we feel more confident, accomplished, and motivated. These emotions fuel our progress. The more progress we make on our goals, the happier we feel, and the happier we feel, the more progress we make on our goals.

Becoming more grateful is a lifelong pursuit. You aren’t instantly going to change how you are hardwired, but you can train your brain to look for the positive. When you acknowledge the things you are grateful for you begin to recognize these things more throughout your day. CLICK HERE to read how I practice gratitude.
I wanted other moms to benefit from the happiness, accomplishment, and success I feel from this simple trick so I created The Full Life Gratitude Journal for Moms. It is a 6-month journal to help you start your gratitude journey to a more grateful, mindful, joyful, and successful life.
How Do I Make Goals?
There are long-term goals and short-term goals. Long-term goals are the BIG dreams you have for yourself or your family, like your 1, 5, or 10 year plan. Short-term goals are the small goals that will help lead you to accomplishing your big goals.
I find it helpful to create a vision board for my long-term goals. So get out your poster board, scissors, markers, glue, magazines, and glitter. Sit down and think about what you want for your life, find a picture that represents that goal and glue it onto your poster board. Find a picture for each long-term goal you would like to achieve. If you want to lose weight, then glue a scale on your poster. If you want to read more books, then glue a book on your poster. No goal is too silly to add to your vision board.
My husband and I like to create a vision board at the beginning of each year; we enjoy doing it together that way we are on the same page and can encourage each other to achieve our goals. Our vision board is our long-term goals that we want to accomplish for the year. We write down short-term goals each day that will lead us to achieving our long term goals.
Small successes help motivate us to achieve larger successes. Short-term goals help us to achieve our long-term goals. You don’t have to lose the entire 25 pounds all at once. Just set a goal to not eat sugar for a week. Write your daily goal in your The Full Life Gratitude Journal for Moms—that’s what I do. This helps me to know what my focus for the day is to help me reach my long-term goal (which I also write down daily as a reminder). Once you succeed at that goal, add another one—not eat sugar for a week and go for a walk everyday for a week. Enjoy the success and accomplishment of meeting those little goals. Those small steps turn into big actions. Big actions lead to achieving your long-term goals.
